Draw-a-Thon

Oh dear I need to learn to count. I ended up drawing 9 cards for the Draw-a-Thon , but if I add the card that I traded with Stillatthetop that would be 10 now wouldn't it, then I trade another card out of my gallery oh my it is now 11 all on this Draw-a-Thon weekend. How wonderful is that.
This little Baker fairy is a collage that I had done. The background is original then layered with designer paper and clip art then sealed and antique. I traded this to Kylie over in Australia.

This card here finally went home to Stillatthetop this card is what you call a Zentangle drawing back in the days it was called doodling...giggle...this is really it is a way to relax letting the flow of the lines interpret its own design. I always have fun making these up.

Draw-a-Thon

I know it is the 3rd day now on this same subject. I really did have fun drawing and trading my cards. It was odd we were suppose to draw a card then post it, well, I just couldn't keep up with everyone. So Saturday night around 11:00 p.m. I posted a few pictures then I stayed up past 1:00 a.m. drawing a couple more pictures. By then I was run drum. I was thinking to myself oh my, what happen if they don't trade. I'm proud to say I traded every one of them plus a few that were already in my gallery. It was a whole lot of fun. Here are the last 4 drawings, well, should I say, no there drawings just different styles. You figure it out.

I am wishing you all a wonderful day may it be special and full of joy!

Draw-a-Thon

Wow this weekend was busy. We did a Draw-a-Thon over at ATCsforALL it started Friday night at midnight ends tonight Sunday midnight. Whew! I made up 10 cards and swap them all out! I'm exhausted not to add all the different interruption I had this week. I loved it! I am still in wonder how I manage to draw 10 cards and swap them out. These two are Zetti Gals, it sure was a lot of fun. I'll share a few more tomorrow.

THE TOUCH OF THE MASTER'S HAND

Twas battered and scarred, and the auctioneer
Thought it scarcely worth his while
To waste much time on the old violin,
But held it up with a smile:
"What am I bidden, good folks," he cried,
"Who'll start the bidding for me?
"A dollar, a dollar"; then, "Two!" "Only two?
Two dollars, and who'll make it three?
Three dollars, once; three dollars, twice;
Going for three--" But no,
From the room, far back, a gray-haired man
Came forward and picked up the bow;
Then, wiping the dust from the old violin,
And tightening the loose strings,
He played a melody pure and sweet
As a caroling angel sings.
The music ceased, and the auctioneer,
With a voice that was quiet and low,
Said: "What am I bid for the old violin?"
And he held it up with the bow.
"A thousand dollars and who'll make it two?
Two thousands! And who'll make it three?
Three thousand, once, three thousand, twice,
And going, and gone." said he
The people cheered, but some of them cried,
"We do not quiet understand
What changed its worth." Swift came the reply:
"The touch of a master's hand."
And many a man with life out of tune,
And battered and scarred with sin,
Is auctioned cheap to the thoughtless crowd,
Much like the old violin.
A "mess of pottage," a glass of wine;
He's is "going" once, and "going"  twice,
he's "going" and almost "gone."
But the Master comes, and the foolish crowd
Never can quite understand
The worth of a soul and the change that's wrought
By the touch of the Master's hand.

MAIL ART 4x6

This is another Mail Art card 4x6 that I made for TherapyArtist over at ATCsforAll. Here again I use designer paper which I stamped for the background. Then I went to my computer dug up some clipart arrange them the way I wanted then printed them out. The Grass is made by me which I painted with acrylic paint. The stick lady is me, can't you tell, ..giggle.. running through the garden the sleeping dog and the loveable cats are not paying any attention not to say the blue birds building their house or the hummingbirds flying around. I then accented the flowers and back ground with metallic acrylic paint and then ink the edges and added a tad more ink on the front of the card edges. This was a lot of fun!

7/17/08

Mail Art 4x6

Mail Art are little pieces of art that are the size of 4x6 they can be collages, drawing, paintings
if it can be made into a 4x6 well it is consider Mail Art. Originally Mail Art was consider a post card the size of most post cards are 4x6. There are groups out that the make Post Cards and send them in the mail to each other of family. I think what I love about the size 4x6 it gives you a larger area to work on. I love making ATC (artist trading cards 2.5 x 3.5 but these 4 x 6 are just as much fun. The 4 x 6 you see below, my first one for ATCsforAll in the ATC Picture Profile Swap. My card is a combination of drawing and collaging.

This card was a lot of fun to make. I made my own digital clip art and I use the computer to write up my profile concerning how much I love Art. Then I started putting it all together layering it. I started out with a designer paper background which I stamped. Then I started layering all the pieces of clip art which I then went back with acrylic paint started high lighting the whole card. I like to give my cards a tad of old feeling so I love to ink the edges and apply some of the ink on the cards. Like I said this was a fun card I made for Linda4atc.

Poodles

Do you like poodles? I do I love them A while back I did a few drawing of poodles that it would be fun to share them with you. These are my favorites. Each of them had an attitude just like my little Tess and Taoso each of the are so full of characters. One is tall and the other is very short hard to believe that they are brother and sister.These drawing was done in the medium of Prisma Color Pencils and Watercolor Pencils.

Brillant Weblog Award

This is a drawing of mine that I did for the Zetti Girls Swap over at ATCsforALL.

This painting is done on watercolor paper and I painted in watercolor paints and inks.

I can just hear you saying to yourself what is a Zetti?

I'm not sure, what I do know there are stripes involved. I'm sure there is probably some sort of mythology to it seems there is a lot of that going around. I myself do not get into that I prefer the simple beautiful look adding stripes to the character in a tasteful way.

Goodness gracious, I got the surprise of my life yesterday. I was over visiting my friend Artstanding Stranger Blog only to discover that I was part of the 7 that she nominated for the Brillant Weblog Award. Wasn't that nice of her. Please click on Artstanding Stranger link she has a wonderful site. I feel so Honor to received this award.

The way I understand this, I am to nominate 7 blogs that I enjoy visiting. Well thats a little hard, I enjoy all the blogs I visit and they are all my favorites. Well, here are the rules:

1. Put the logo on your blog (click on it and save it to your files)
2. Add a link to the person who gave it to you (that would be me)
3. Nominate at least 7 other favorite blogs
4. Add links to those people
5. Leave a message for those 7 nominees

Oh My Does Time Fly Bye

Oh my does time fly bye
Do you find your self so busy
You don't know where the day went bye
Does this bother you?

Oh my does time fly bye
When you are having fun
Before you know it the day is gone.
As you look back at the day
You see what a glorious day it was.

Oh my does time fly bye
When reading a book
The suspense holds you
Your glues you to each page
Knowing that the next page will hold the answer.

Oh my does time fly bye
when under the weather not feeling so well
You know you should do this or that
Your energy leaves you and before you know it
The day has past.

Oh my, most of all, does time fly bye
When you spend the day working on your art
You enter a world of imagination
letting you spirit free
creating something new to share
Boy does time fly bye when having fun.

WATER CAN ATC

This is one of my favorite drawings from last year. I like to draw in pencil then add one color to accent the picture.

Here I choose to color the leaves in.

Medium: pencil and color pencils

Daffodil ATC

Artist Trading Cards is one of my favorite past time. As you read these pages you see that I post quiet a few of them.

I find them so interesting if you can make it into an atc size 2.5 x 3.5 be able to slip into this those clear windows, well, you have an ATC.

This one is an hand embroider daffodil flower which I applied to the background which is designer paper. Then I took my metallic acrylic paint aging the card. I had enter in a flower swap over at atcard.

I think what I love most about these atc they are little pieces of art.

DRIED APPLE PIES

I loathe, abhor, detest, despise,
Abominate dried-apple pies.
I like good bread, I like good meat,
Or anything that's fit to eat;
But of all poor grub beneath the skies,
The poorest is dried apple pies.
Give me the toothache, or sore eyes,
But don't give me dried apple pies.
The farmer takes his gnarliest fruit,
'Tis wormy, bitter, and hard, to boot;
He leaves the hulls to make us cough,
And don't take half the peeling off.
Then on a dirty cord 'tis strung
And in a garret window hung,
And there it serves as roost for flies,
Until it's made up into pies.
Tread on my corns, or tell me lies,
But don't pass me dried-apple pies.

Show Us Your Little Girl Shoes

Show us your little girl shoes. This was a swap I did over at ATC group. We were to draw shoes we wear as a child.

I drew this set for myself. I do not remember wearing shoes like these, it is possible though.

To view more shoes that I drew please visit my flickr site. Click on the flicker badge at the left of the screen to get to my site.

Altered Domino Book

The more I am getting into altering Dominoes the more I like it. You see here a book that I made out of two dominoes. I took the dominoes apply alcohol inks giving it a wood look. Then I measure the two dominoes together to get the page sizes. Folded in half then I hand stitch up the middle. Then I decorate each page. Once done with that I applied it to the dominoes. The view you are seeing here is the back view and side view of the front of the book. To view this little book up closer please visit my flickr site.

I HAVE FOUND SUCH JOY

I have found such joy in simple things;
A plain, clean room, a nut-browned loaf of bread,
A cup of milk, a kettle as it sings,
The shelter of a roof above my head,
And in a leaf-laced square along the floor,
Where yellow sunlight glimmers through a door.

I have found joy such joy in things that fill
My quiet days: a curtain's blowing grace,
A potted plant upon my window sill,
A rose, fresh-cut and placed within a vase;
A table cleared, a lamp beside a chair,
And books I love have loved beside me there.

Oh, I have found such joys I wish I might
Tell every woman who goes seeking far
For some elusive, feverish delight,
That very close to home the great joys are:
The elemental things-old as the race,
Yet never, through the ages, commonplace.

DIET

Pa went to see the Doctor today
Complaining about being a tad over weight
The Doctor listen very quietly
then asked some questions.

Suddenly it was very quiet
Pa sat there wondering
as the minutes slipped by
Pa began to think that there
was something terribly wrong!

Doc took a big sigh and said
You must eat more greens!

Is that all, Doc?

I'll do that!

On the way home Ma asked Pa stopped
by the local ice cream parlor
Ma looked at Pa saying what the Doc tell ya?
Oh, nothing much just said I needed to eat more greens.

The waiter asked for their order Pa reply:
1 Chocolate single cone
1 Green single cone
Please!

Happy 4th of July
Folks!

Altered Domino

I have discover that I like to alter dominoes. It is fun, you take a domino and change it appearance making it into something else.

Here I made a key chain, my first attempt at it. You could call this a Collage Key Chain with an original back ground. Once I came up with my design then I layered it with a nice glaze. On the back of this key chain I do have may label on it and it is also glaze just like the front. This was a very fun project. Right now I'm finishing up on a altered domino book.

TOGETHER

You and I by this lamp with these
Few books shut out the world. Our knees
Touch almost in this little space.
But I am glad. I see your face.
The silences are long, but each
Hears the other without speech.
And in this simple scene there is
The essence of all subtleties,
The freedom from all fret and smart,
The one sure sabbath of the heart.

The world-we cannot conquer it,
nor change the minds of fools one whit.
Here, here alone do we create
Beauty and peace inviolate;
here night by night and hour by hour
We build a high impregnable tower
Whence may shine, now and again,
A light to light the feet of men
When they see the rays thereof:
And this is marriage, this is love.

FAITH FOR TOMORROW

"Tomorrow, friend, will be another day,"
A seer wise of old was won't to say
To him who came at eventide, in grief,
Because the day had borne no fruitful sheaf.

O Lord of Life, that each of us might learn
From vain todays and yesterdays to turn,
To face the future with a hope newborn
That what we hope for cometh with the morn!

Charming Little Dresses

Oh my what charming little dresses. We did this over at ATCsforALL well back then it was ATC.

This is a Collage, we made little dresses out of paper which folded over in side you could put a picture or a little poem. On the front of it we were to decorate these charming little dresses in any style we wanted. Well I choose a little girl with her doll. I decorated around the dress with lace. This front of this card is painted and I did use designer paper. It was a very fun project.

Fancy is her Name

They say, "Fancy is her Name" wasn't that a country song? Well, anyway this is my Fancy she is a full figure woman having the time of her life.

This is a Paper doll I painted on her dress then add yarn to it. Of course Fancy would be her name if she didn't have a hat, and a string of pearls now wouldn't she.

For the Hands I use beads and also for the shoes and a bit of ribbon.

The face is hand drawn by me.

Now doesn't she look like a fancy chick?

SPEAK GENTLY

Speak gently; it is better far
To rule by love than fear;
Speak gently; let no harsh word mar
The good we may do here.

Speak gently to the little child;
Its love be sure to gain;
Teach it in accents soft and mild;
It may not long remain.

Speak gently to the young; for they
Will have enough to bear;
Pass through this life as best they may,
'Tis full of anxious care.

Speak gently to the aged one.
Grieve not the careworn heart;
Whose sands of life are nearly run,
Let such in peace depart.

Speak gently, kindly to the poor,
Let no harsh tone be heard;
They have enough they must endure,
Without an unkind word.

Speak gently to the erring; know
They must have toiled in vain;
Perchance unkindness made them so;
Oh, win them back again.

Speak gently; Love doth whisper low
The hearts that true hearts bind.
And gently Friendship's accents flow;
Affection's voice is kind.

Speak gently; 'tis a little thing
Dropped in the heart's deep well;
The good, the joy that it may bring,
Eternity shall tell.

Pointillism

I first learn about Pointillism was over in a doll group I belong too. We were to make a doll in the style of an artist. Well, I picked George Seurat. Boy did I learn about Pointillism. I had a great time figuring it all out. Being insecure about it I did not make my doll though I do have the body done. She is waiting for me to use her body as an canvas for Pointillism. In the meantime over at Artist Trading Card now known as ATCsforAll I joined a group who where drawing atc in the pointillism style. This picture is one of my attempts at pointillism.

QUEEN OF HEARTS

Paper Art Doll - Queen of Hearts this was my first attempt of making a folded up Art Doll to the size of 2.5 x 3.5

See the body where the hearts are, well, the wings, arms, legs and head all folds up behind the body turning it into an Artist Trading card size.

I use designer paper for the whole doll except for the face. The face is hand drawn by me.

This was a fun project I traded this Art Doll card off.

THE PHILOSOPHER

I saw him sitting in his door,
Trembling as old men do;
His house was old; his barn was old,
And yet his eyes seemed new.

His eyes had seen three time my years
And kept a twinkle still,
Though they had looked at birth and death
And three graves on a hill.

"I will sit down with you," I said,
"And you will make me wise;
Tell me how you have kept they joy
Still burning in your eyes."

Then like an old-time orator
Impressively he rose;
"I make the most of all that comes,
The least of all that goes."

The jingling rhythm of his words
Echoes as old songs do,
Yet this had kept his eyes alight
till he was ninety-two.

UP-HILL

Does the road wind up-hill all the way?
Yes, to the very end.
Will the day's journey take the whole long day?
From morn to night, my friend.

But is there for the night a resting-place?
A roof for when the slow dark hours begin.
May not the darkness hide it from my face?
You cannot miss that inn.

Shall I meet other wayfarers at night?
Those who have gone before.
Then must I knock, or call when just in sight?
They will not keep you standing at that door.

Shall I find comfort, travel-sore and weak?
Of labour you shall find the sum.
Will there be beds for me and all who seek?
Yea, beds for all you come.

Nikon Coolpix P4 cont.

This is the reservoir that Mike and I walk around. Isn't it beautiful?

This walk is quiet a walk it is also one of the most beautiful walks I've been on. Each morning there is something different to look at. The beauty of the reservoir with the wild flowers in bloom not to say all the critters we see along the way. One of these day's I'm hoping to get a picture of one of those eagles snatching a fish.

photograph by ranie patridis

6/19/08

Nikon Coolpix P4 cont.

As we continue our walk around the Reservoir the fog was really lifting fast. Once that Sun made it completely over the mountain in no time it was clearing off. Suddenly Mike says to me stop look over there, well, over there was clear across the reservoir low n behold I could see 2 specks sitting sided by side on a branch. Can you see them? Its way over there in that tall tree, well, there is 2 tall trees side by side.

Now I lighten this photo up hoping you could see the specks. Did you find those 2 specks side by side. My husband has good eyes I was amaze that he could see them. And, all I had with me was my little Nikon Coolpix P4 camera. Boy, was I wishing I had my larger camera with me, at least it had a better zoom on it. I focus real hard on those 2 trees thinking to myself this will never work. Once home I add the pictures into my computer then went into my photo program looking for those 2 specks ..*smile*.. I found them, crop them out may not be the best picture but you know what it is and there you have it folks!

Can you believe it tis Eagles!
Two sitting side by side two adult eagles.
Funny too we always thought there was just one!
Well there 2's folks
Beautiful Birds!

We finish walking around the reservoir keeping our eye's on these birds as soon as we were in distance of getting a good picture they flew off. ..giggle.. they have been watching us walk all around that reservoir. Next week I will share with you pictures from my Nikon Coolpix 8800 camera hopefully I'll get some better pictures of those eagles. Guess I'm going to have to court them ..giggle.. Tomorrow we will continue with the Coolpix P4 shots.

6/18/08

Nikon Coolpix P4 cont.

As you can see here the mist or fog is really beginning to lift now. You are beginning to be able to distinguish the water the reflection of the trees and brushes from fog to water. Still looks a tad eerie doesn't it?

The picture below as we walked around the bend you can really begin to see that the fog is lifting and start to see blue in the Sky and see the reservoir edge across the way.

Now your not going to believe what comes next that will be tomorrow!

6/17/08

Nikon Coolpix P4 cont.

As we walked around the reservoir I took this picture again using scene then in manual I clicked on scenery. I almost use the bright back grounds but decided against it. Wanted that shadow dark eerie look. In the background you still see the fog mostly on one side then see a batch of dark blue which is the water with the fog above it.

Doesn't that rotten tree look menace?

The trees in the back ground has that dark eerie look with the fog behind it. If you look very closely you can look across the water actually start seeing the shore line across the reservoir. Well onto the next photo, that will be tomorrow, see you then.

Nikon Coolpix P4

Do you have a Coolpix P4? I just love this Nikon camera. I bought this camera last fall because I wanted a small camera to carry in my purse. It seems when ever I leave my Coolpix 8800 behind I there is a picture I need to take. My husband and I been walking around the Ewing Reservoir early in the morning around 6 a.m. Each day it seems there is something different to see and or course to take a picture of. I put my camera on scene then go into the manual to pick the view I want to shoot. On this one I just choose scenery. Each day this week I will share with the different views I have taken with this amazing little camera.

This first view is taken at sun rise the fog was thick you could barley see the water. As the sun was rising over the mountains this was one of the shots I got.

This last view below is taken a bit later not much as you can see the fog is lifting a tad the shadows of the tree's and the sun are being reflected in the water. This turn out to be a beautiful morning.

BEFORE IT IS TOO LATE

Some times, well, we just do not always let our parents know how much we love them. We think that our actions show how much we care though at times as parents they wonder if it is so. As humans we love to hear 3 simple words "I Love You!" just 3 simple words that puts a smile on anyone face.

If you have a tender message,
Or a loving word to say,
do not wait till you forget it,
But whisper it today;
The tender word unspoken,
The letter never sent,
The long forgotten messages,
The wealth of love unspent-
For these some hearts are breaking,
For these some loved ones wait;
So show them that you care for them
before it is too late.

THE PREACHER'S MISTAKE

The Parish Priest
Of austerity,
Climbed up in a high church steeple
To be nearer God,
So that he might hand
His word down to His people.

When the sun was high,
When the sun was low,
The good man sat unheeding
Sublunary things.
From transcendency
Was he forever reading.

And now and again
When he heard the creak
Of the weather vane a-tuning,
He closed his eyes
And said, "Of a truth
From God I now am learning."

And in sermon script
He daily wrote
What he thought was sent from heaven,
And he dropped this down
On his people's heads
Two times one day in seven.

In his age God said,
"Come down and die!"
And he cried out from the steeple,
"Where are thou, Lord?"
And the Lord replied,
"Down here among my people."

LILAC FAIRY

I'M A LITTLE ACORN

I am a little acorn passing through
You will find me in the most unusual places
I may drop from a tree and roll around
Then maybe a squirrel has decided to bury me
in your flower bed
Where ever I land if in a good spot
be sure to know
that I'll root and grow into a beautiful Oak Tree

MY MADONNA

I hailed me a woman from the street,
Shameless, but oh, so fair!
I bade her sit in the model's seat
And I painted her sitting there.

I hid all trace of her heart unclean;
I painted a babe at her breast;
I painted her as she might have been
If the Worst had been the Best.

She laughed at my picture and went away
Then came with a knowing nod,
A connoisseur, and I heard him say;
"Tis Mary, the Mother of God."

So I painted a halo round her hair,
And I sold her and took my fee,
And she hangs in the church of Saint Hilaire,
Where you and all may see.

ZETTI GIRLS

Zetti Girls here they come!

Not sure what a Zetti Girls is they seem to love to wear strips mostly black n white. In a way they are cute a tad different but very unique.

Don't be surprise!

ALTERED ART

Over at ATCsforALL I have gotten involved Altered Dominoes. Hey, it's a blast. This one I first did the background with Alcohol Inks then I started layering for this is a collage. Well, the first layer I didn't care for but what to do it was already glue to it. So I took some gold acrylic paint and painted it then I cut out a very small fairy and added it after I accented it with Inks. Then comes the sealing. I was introduce to Diamond Glaze, I love it! I put several coats of Diamond Glaze over it letting each layer dry. Then once completely done I made the key chain with beads n wire.

Back View
This is the back view, I tried writing on it but wasn't happy with the out come. So I made a label add it on the Diamond glaze over it. Turn out quiet nice I may say.

CABOCHON BEAUTY

I love to bead, it is so addicting. Right now I'm working on a Bead Sampler Doll. I should be doing other things, but, when I see that plate of beads I just automatically sit down and start adding beads. It is so addicting!

This cabochon was another one of those classes I did over in Weaverville with Seti. This one has a picture stone in it. I took the colors from inside the stone to match my beads too. I love working with size 11 and 15 beads. In this piece I even added some fresh water pearls. Of course those beads were a tad larger.

LIFE SCULPTURE

Chisel in hand stood a sculptor boy
With his marble block before him,
And his eyes lit up with a smile of joy,
As an angel dream passed o'er him.

He carved the dream on that shapeless stone,
With many a sharp incision;
With Heaven's own light the sculptor shone-
He'd caught that angel vision

Children of life are we, as we stand
With our lives uncarved before us,
Waiting the hour when, at God's command,
Our life dream shall pass o'er us.

If we carve it then on the yielding stone,
With many a sharp incision,
Its heavenly beauty shall be our own,
Our lives that angel vision.

This is my first beaded cabochon. This was so much fun! By the time I got to the class well I ended up with the left over. ..giggle..This cabochon stone was a soft grey with flicks of peach shades. I looked at this stone for a long time then I went to the beads seeing what I could come up with to match the very limited colors of the stone. By the time I put all my colors together everyone was oohing over my cab. The necklace is beaded also. Everyone commenting how Vintage it look, I just smile, all I did was work with the colors within the stone and it turn out just fine. I had to smile when one of the ladies made the comment if I had known that stone would be that pretty I would have taken it. ..*smile*.. Well it just shows ya, the beauty is within a soul.

WHEN YOU TURN 50

you make a doll. I wasn't feeling so good when I turn 50 years young a few years back. I wanted my birthday to be a big bang something really special. It didn't happen! Boy was I disappointed, over on one of my doll groups this challenge was going on. This doll is a design of Phyllis who is the owner n moderator Cloth Doll Maker group. I took her doll pattern and came up with a doll that represent all my feelings, a little bit naughty yet pure, still a child at heart and a gentle soul. It seems I always give more than I take which is a good thing. Just would like to be notice some times and be made a fuss over especially on my birthday. This doll face is needle sculpted the arms face are painted. The teddy bear is hand crochet and a beaded necklace the butterfly's made from fabric and painted. Wings made from feathers and wire.

Juanita Iris

photograph by ranie patridis

My miniature Iris have bloom. They are so tiny and precious. The are so delicate they bloom early in the spring. I'm not sure what their name is. Now I call them Juanita Iris, she was a little ole lady a bit grumpy a tad sour but her love for and knowledge of nature was unbelievable. This brought out the beauty and softness of Juanita. She has now left us so when I see these tiny little iris growing in my pot I say to myself how beautiful you are, it gently reminds me of a little ole lady name Juanita.

Shay

This is my first attempt at sculpting. My friend Diane started me with sculpting a face on a back of a spoon. We had so much fun making our face. Once done then we baked it in the oven. Funny baking a head in a oven. Well after a very long time I finally finish Shay found this nice stand he now hangs over my computer.
