I participate in a swap over at ATCsforALL where we were to make a fabric card using stitchings. I came up with the idea of hand embroidering the Sun Bonnet Sue and Sam and I also hand sew the edges.

Fabric Chunkie Pages

Well I have said over and over again. I have NO intention to start making chunkie pages. Guess what I'm making chunkie pages. These are 4 x 4 pages made of fabric or paper. We take these pages turning them into a book. Well here are my fabric pages. Our Host over at ATCsforALL wanted them chunkie. I had come up with an idea then I suddenly decided I better re-checked and see if there was a theme we were to go by. ..giggle..oh my there was boy did it turn my idea up side down. The theme was In the Garden, my mind started ticking in the garden then I had a great idea ........
In the Garden are my Funky Flowers
I started out with 2 pieces of fabric with batting. Then I sewed a design hoping to make it stiffer, I wasn't too happy with it then I took some silk flowers and hand sculpted a bunch of  nylon faces. Then I attached a few on each page I made 8 pages. Once done with that I decided those funky flowers needed something more so I went into my stash found some fuzzy yarn putting that around their faces now that dress it up a bit. Still something else was
needed oh my goodness they were bald needed to fix that! I got some glue and glitter out gave them a funky looking cap still looked a bit plain, decided to add beads and buttons and so much more. My first chunky page and it had to be fabric. Lots of hand sewing a lot of work. I kept 3 giving one to a friend of mine here at home, two for myself, that means I sent 5 to UK. Now I am patiently waiting to received four pages back from four different artist. Once I get them back I get to turn them into a book. Now that is going to be interesting!

SATURDAY NIGHT

This is a cute little poem dated 1852 about a young child taught that she could not play on Sunday!

Now Dolly, my dear,
I pray you come here;
And work is all done;
I'll put you to bed, for to-morrow is Sunday,
And I'll not see you again until Monday.

you don't want to go?
But you ought to know
That it is by right;
So, Dolly, good-night:

You must lie without noise or crying till Monday,
For you know we ought not to play on Sunday.

Rings of Angels

Wow, here is the one I was waiting for and mine.
That makes 4 angels

The one on the left is Aileen the one on the right is mine.
Didn't they all turn out really nice?
So pretty n dainty.
Once we received them we were too attached all the angels together. Well I decided not too. It turn out we all did not follow the directions completely. Three of us made the angels accordingly to the direction, one angel was made completely different. I love them all.I decided to use them here n there in my home instead. Then maybe one day I will make another one then I can attached them together making a ring of angels to sit on my table.

Ring of Angels

A while back I share with you all four fabic quilted angels that I made for a swap. We were to keep 1 send three off in return we would get three back.

Here are my first two that I received. The one on the left is from Joan the one on the right of from Beverlay. The angels are adorable. Joan Angel is flat so I'll be hanging her's on the wall where as Beverlay angel is two sided where I can put it over an candle it just use as decoration. Now I'm waiting for one more should be here any time!

Ring of Angels

Over at Friendship Doll Group there was a swap going on. A swap is where people make a commitment to each other to fulfill their commitment to each other. In this swap we were to make four angels,

we were to take three of these angels send them off to three other members of our swap. Keeping the fourth one for our self. Then each of the other three swappers did the same. We would all end up with four angels each. Once we received our angels we are to attached them together. They can hang or sit in a circle on a table.
Well, this one is mine, now I'm waiting to received three more angels from three different swappers.

Fancy is her Name

They say, "Fancy is her Name" wasn't that a country song? Well, anyway this is my Fancy she is a full figure woman having the time of her life.

This is a Paper doll I painted on her dress then add yarn to it. Of course Fancy would be her name if she didn't have a hat, and a string of pearls now wouldn't she.

For the Hands I use beads and also for the shoes and a bit of ribbon.

The face is hand drawn by me.

Now doesn't she look like a fancy chick?

WHEN YOU TURN 50

you make a doll. I wasn't feeling so good when I turn 50 years young a few years back. I wanted my birthday to be a big bang something really special. It didn't happen! Boy was I disappointed, over on one of my doll groups this challenge was going on. This doll is a design of Phyllis who is the owner n moderator Cloth Doll Maker group. I took her doll pattern and came up with a doll that represent all my feelings, a little bit naughty yet pure, still a child at heart and a gentle soul. It seems I always give more than I take which is a good thing. Just would like to be notice some times and be made a fuss over especially on my birthday. This doll face is needle sculpted the arms face are painted. The teddy bear is hand crochet and a beaded necklace the butterfly's made from fabric and painted. Wings made from feathers and wire.

Shay

This is my first attempt at sculpting. My friend Diane started me with sculpting a face on a back of a spoon. We had so much fun making our face. Once done then we baked it in the oven. Funny baking a head in a oven. Well after a very long time I finally finish Shay found this nice stand he now hangs over my computer.

Back View

Now for the life of me I have not idea why anyone would want a hanging head. I'm not interested in making another with out a body. That reminds me I have one done that needs to be dress guess I better get busy.

Baby Clay Sculpture

Can you imagine being so tiny. Well these chubby fingers of mine had a heck of a time sculpting this precious little bundle. I finally got smart starting using some tools that I bought and design myself. Boy are sculpting tools pricey. This was actually an online class a few years back that I took. I like taking online classes when I'm learning a new technique this way I can ask questions.

Side View look at those ears oh so tiny

Back View oh so precious!

Another side view of this precious clay baby.

If you have not tried your hand in sculpting I encourage you to do so. I was amaze at my first turn out I plan to keep sculpting and doing my own thing.

Charmed One

I just couldn't resist I just had to share with you all my latest doll venture. Back in February I took this class over at Doll Street Dreamers of Sherri Goshon called Charmed One. I wanted a fun simple class I have not been making dolls in such a long time due to health and other obligation that just kept getting in the way. Though this class was in February I did not finish it till May. Here are two of these adorable dolls which I am giving away ..giggle.. hubby thinks I'm crazy I just can't keep them all. As for selling I only like to sell dolls that I designed unless I finally have to let one go, then it is consider a use second hand doll. I know Doll Artist do not want to hear that but it's so. Even commercial dolls had an Artist to designed it once bought well it becomes a use second hand doll that is usually pass onto someone else.

These dolls are fabric with polyester fiberfill stuffing. Once the form is made then it becomes a canvas to paint and collage on. It was so much fun! I'm going to make me one for my birthday. Sherri made the comment you won't be able stop at one boy was she right!

Hatley a PaperDoll

Hatley is my very first paper doll the body design is by Sherry Goshen. We were to take this body pattern and turn it into a doll.

This is my interpretation of this doll body. I came up with a boy. I use several nice designer paper to make up the clothes then I added some buttons to the shirt and for his hat will he just had to have a tassel not to say a gold beaded briml. ..giggle..

I made him to be hang on the wall. The face I drew in with color pencils and actually use wool for the hair. This was a fun project it open up a whole different world for me. From time to time I make Artist Trading Dolls and trade them actually but then I also make them for myself which I put in a folder or hang on the wall.

Old Fashion Rag Doll

Just an Old Fashion Rag Doll. This is one of my doll that I made for my Mother In-law.

She is a painted rag doll. I use the muslin body as my canvas for painting. I apply several coats of gesso and then paint in layers till I get the look I'm after.

The clothes are all hand made even the adorable little donkey or is it a horse that she is hold as her favorite toy.

I love making these rag dolls imagine in days of old children where allow to play with them. Today well due to it being painted I would say no this is not a toy but it is a collector doll.

Mayflower Marcia

Mayflower Marcia is a fabric doll. The body is stuffed with fiberfill and it also has a wire armature. This doll is attached to a wood base.

This doll is coated with gesso let dried then sanded and reapplied. I did this about 4 times before started adding layers of acrylic paints. Once I'm done with the colors then I dressed her in silk flowers.

Mayflower Marcia is running through the woods, as she is running among the flowers she hears the birds singing all around her.

This doll is about 12 inches tall.

All handmade and design by the Artist Ranie Patridis

Baby Clay Sculpture

Isn't this little baby precious.
This wee little baby is only about 3.5 inches long.

Fits in the palm of my hand.

I had so much fun sculpting this clay baby.
I started with a foil center which I then over lay it with Polymer Clay.

I slowly started shaping this baby using tools to sculpt the figure and body.

Then I needed something to put this baby, thus the crochet hooded baby blanket hand crochet by me.

Crystalline

The Snow Queen of the Year

Her name is Crystalline designed by Kathy Lees.

I won this free class and had a ball making this doll. It was the dead of summer and I was to make a snow queen. I soon discover that due to being summer it was very hard to find winter items. I did a lot of improvising for this doll.

A lot of hand work was done on this doll her blouse is all hand crochet with hand sewn beads on it. The Staff is a dowel with hand crochet snowflakes on the end which I heavily glue glitter on.

The skin tone on this doll is shades of blue to represent the icy coldness as you can see her hair is with beads. The cape she is wearing is quilted machine fancy stitching all over it. This doll is attached to a wood stand. I enter this doll in our local fair, I won a blue ribbon, Best of Show and First in Division.

Doll ~ Clowns

Clowns let the Fun Begin

Do you like Clowns? Oh my I do, a few years back here in Hayfork a very small circus came and with it they had clowns. I was just as excited as the kids where. What I like about clowns colors does not have to match you can be bright and cheerful. Now some of their faces may not be so pretty but I do love the bright colors they represents. These clowns were one of my first attempt to design my own dolls. They are sitting on a trike that I found. I embellish this trike with balloons and ribbons. It was a fun! I still have these today they are 7 years old, still putting a smile on our faces. These are consider "Collector" doll not a doll for a child to play with.
