THE RAINBOW

My heart leaps up when I behold
A rainbow in the sky:
So was it when my life began;
So is it now I am a Man;
So be it when I shall grow old,
Or let me die!
The Child is Father of the Man;
And I could wish my days to be
Bound each to each by natural piety.
William Wordsworth
I bet you thought this was going to be a beautiful poem about rainbows, this poor fella must have been very down when he wrote this poem.
Have a Beautiful day!

This is not a "down" poem to me. I read it as the wisdom that comes with age and the importance of relating who one is every day of their life to the experiences of childhood and the celebration of even having been born. I think it is beautiful.

As for my daughter in Italy and me visiting. I cannot do that. I am disabled in a way that does not allow me to travel much further than about 20 minutes away from my home. Guess you didn't know that about me huh? Another reason I think the poem is wise and beautiful.

Oh CattyCat your comment really touch my heart. I love this poem, but, I'm sure others looked at the poem differently too. I knew you are disable did not realize how serious it is. Take care dear!
