Lets Get Stitching

I participate in a swap over at ATCsforALL where we were to make a fabric card using stitchings. I came up with the idea of hand embroidering the Sun Bonnet Sue and Sam and I also hand sew the edges.

THE WATERED LILIES

The Master stood in His garden,
Among the lilies fair,
Which His own right hand had planted,
And trained with tend'rest care.
***
He looked at their snowy blossoms,
And marked with observant eye
That the flowers were sadly drooping,
For their leaves were parched and dry.
***
"My lilies need to be watered,"
The Heavenly Master said'
"Wherein shall I draw it for them,
And raise each drooping head?"
***
Close to his feet on the pathway,
Empty, and frail, and small,
An earthen vessel was lying,
Which seemed no use at all;
***
But the Master saw, and raised it
From the dust in which it lay,
And smiled, as He gently whispered,
"This shall do My work today:
***
"It is but an earthen vessel,
But it lay so close to Me;
It is small, but it is empty-
That is all it needs to be."
***
So to the fountain He took it,
And filled it full to the brim;
How glad was the earthen vessel
To be of some use to Him!
***
He poured forth the living water
Over His lilies fair,
Until the vessel was empty,
And again He filled it there.
***
He watered the drooping lilies
Until they revived again;
And the Master saw with pleasure
That His labor had not been vain.
***
His own hand had drawn the water
Which refreshed the thirsty flowers;
But He used the earthen vessel
To convey the living showers.
***
And to itself it whispered,
As He laid it aside once more,
"Still will I lie in His pathway,
Just where I did before.
***
"Close would I keep to the Master,
Empty would I remain,
And perhaps some day He may use me
To water His flowers again."

Marie Antoinette Award

I was just awarded the Marie Antoinette Award from my fellow Artist Boatbird.

Goodness gracious I am so delighted I could not believe my eyes.

I love Marie Antoinette, love the style of her day not to say that she was a woman of her words. The life she led was something else, I'm sorta glad I did not live back then though I still love the style of clothes they wore. Hmm, maybe I'll make a doll!

I understand I need to follow the rules below....
Rules for the Award

1. Put the picture of Marie Antoinette on your blog.
2. Link to the person from whom you received the award.
3. Nominate at least 7 or more blogs.
4. Link to those blogs from your blog.

5. Leave a comment on their blogs to let them know you've shared the award with them.

...and I'm adding one more to the rules

 6. Add to "Blogs I'm Following" in your Blogger Dashboard

I award this Marie Antoinette award too:

Swing by their blogs go take a look, wonderful real people who loves Arts, Crafts and Life just like me.

Just a little bit of Art Zentangle Style

By now you all have seen my zentangles cards that I love to draw. It is doodling then at time I like to turn those doodling something into a drawing. I have so much fun making these cards up. Over at ATCsforALL it seems there are quiet a few of us doodling/zentangle artist. These cards are from the Zentangle Swap that I was part of.

Hello, I'm back....

Hello my friends, I've been gone such a long time. My fault really, I had to make some decision as to what I was going to do with my Internet I am so scattered all over the place. I decided to shut a bunch of groups down keeping some letting others go. I decided in the end to keep flickr, ATCsforALL and my Blog.

Did you notice the changes I have made on my Blog?

Well I better hurry, Mike will be in any moment asking me if I am ready to go to our exercise class. I hear him, whoops he just came in.

In the meantime I have been working on my arts n crafts going to be coming up with some interesting Art to share with you all. Here is an Zentangle ATC that I made for Robin.

STRICTLY GERM-PROOF

The Antiseptic Baby and the Prophylactic Pup
Were playing in the garden when the Bunny gamboled up;
They looked upon the Creature with a loathing undisguised;
It wasn't Disinfected and it wasn't Sterilized.
***
They said it was a Microbe and a Hotbed of Disease;
They steamed it in a vapor of a thousand-odd degrees;
They forze it in a freezer that was cold as Banished Hope
And washed it in permanganate with carbolated soap.
***
In sulphureted hydrogen they steeped its wiggly ears;
They trimmed its frisky whiskers with a pair of hard-boiled shears;
They donned their rubber mittens and they took it by the hand
And 'lected it a member of the Fumigated Band.
***
There's not a Micrococcus in the garden where they play;
They bathe in pure iodoform a dozen times a day;
And each imbibes his rations from a Hygienic Cup-
The Bunny and the Baby and the Prophylactic Pup.

THROUGH THE YEAR

God be with you in the Springtime
When the violets unfold,
And the buttercups and cowslips
Fill the fields with yellow gold;
In the time of apple blossoms,
When the happy bluebirds sing,
Filling all the world with gladness
God be with you in the Spring!
***
God be with you in the Summer,
When the sweet june roses blow,
When the bobolinks are laughing
And the brooks with music flow;
When the fields are white with daisies
And the days are glad and long-
God be with you in the Summer,
Filling all your world with song.
***
God be with you in the Autumn,
When the birds and flowers have fled,
And along the woodland pathways
Leaves are falling, gold and red;
When the Summer lies behind you,
In the eveing of the year-
God be with you in the Autumn,
Thenn to fill your heart with cheer.
***
God be with you in the Winter,
When the snow lies deep and white,
When the sleeping fields are silent
And the stars gleam cold and bright.
When the hand and heart are tired
With life's long ans weary quest-
God be with you in the Winter,
Just to guide you into rest.

WISH UPON A STAR ZENTANGLE

This week our challenge over at the Zentangle with a Twist Social group is "Wish Upon a Star" it is amazing to see what the other artist are coming up with. These are my two approach to this theme.

My husband and I was chuckling at this card the star stands out so bright and beautiful but if you look carefully the way the lines are drawn around the star and highlighted in yellow reflection of a person. At least we saw it ..giggle.. did you?
I have been hooked on penguins the are so cute and adorable so this little fellow is wishing upon a star looking straight up at it.

QUOTE FOR THE DAY: Simplicity

A man must be able to cut a knot,
for everything cannot be untied;
he must know how to disengage what is
essential from the detail in which it
is enwrapped, for everything cannot
be equally considered:
in a word, he must be able
to simplify his duties,
his business and his life.

ART DECO CARDS

Last Thursday I shared with you all the Art Deco cards that I did for CattyCat swap. I mention that I was making a set for my self using children.  I love Vintage clipart especially if they are children it just touches my heart. I think the reason for this is my love for Cloth Dolls. I love making the old fashion rag doll when they use to paint them. When I discover ATC and vintage clipart will I was won over, here they are.

And did you notice that some of the children are holding dolls. ..*smile*..
I notice in my vintage clip art that it shows children were use a lot for advertising different products back in those days. Interesting!

SUNSHINE AND MUSIC

A laugh is just like sunshine.
It freshens all the day,
It tips the peak of life with light,
And drives the clouds away.
The soul grows glad that hears it
And feels its courage strong.
A laugh is just like sunshine
Cor cheering folks along.
*****
A laugh is just like music.
It lingers in the heart,
And where its melody is heard
The ills of life depart;
And happy thoughts come crowding
Its joyful notes to greet:
A laugh is just like music
For making living sweet.

THE COMMING OF HIS FEET

In the crimson of the morning, in the whiteness of the noon,
In the amber glory of the day's retreat,
In the midnight, robed in darkness, or the gleaming of the moon,
I listen to the coming of His feet.
*****
I heard His weary footsteps on the sands of Galilee,
On the Temple's marble pavement, on the street,
Worn with weight of sorrow, faltering up the slopes of Calvary,
The sorrow of the coming of His feet.
*****
Down the minster aisles of splendor, from betwixt the cherubim,
Through the wondering throng, with motion strong and fleet,
Sounds His victor tread approaching, with a music far and dim-
The music of the coming of His feet.
*****
Sandaled not with sheen of silver, girded not with woven gold,
Weighted not with shimmering gems and odors sweet,
But white-winged and shod with glory in the Tabor light of old-
The glory of the coming of His feet.
*****
He is coming, O my spirt, with His everlasting peace,
Whit His blessedness immortal and complete;
He is coming, O my spirit, and His coming brings release-
I listen for the coming of His feet.

ART DECO SWAP

My friend CattyCat is hosing a swap over at ATCsforALL.com
DECO ART
CattyCat sent each of us 9 cards that where printed up into a pattern
with plenty of bare white spaces of all size.
Now that was a challenge!
We were not to cover much of the printed sections of the card
these cards go together like a puzzel.
Once everyone turn their cards in, we will be given
9 different cards back.
I can't imagine how they will go together with all the
different styles, patterns, collages, drawings
that each artist did to their cards.
Here is my 9 cards that I will be sending in.

It is hard to cypher here which part is hand drawn and which part is the pre-printed Art Deco Pattern.
I am making another set just for me all in children I notice on the one I am making for myself that I am covering up a bit of the patterns. Since it is for me it does not matter.
HAPPY NEW YEAR!

THE DOOR-BELL

I never hear it ring without
A creepy little thrill
Expectant of some possible
Adventure, good or ill.
***
It may be just a friend who comes
To have a cup of tea;
It may be just a letter's old
Familiar mystery.
***
It may be one who comes to sell
Some queer, unwanted thing;
Or one who brings the latest news
Of war and uncrowned king.
***
It may be just these happenings
Of every-day, but still
I never hear it ring without
That funny little thrill.

LITTLE ROADS TO HAPPINESS

The little roads to happiness, they are not hard to find;
They do not lead to great success-but to a quiet mind.
They do not lead to mighty power, nor to substantial wealth.
They bring one to a book, a flower, a song of cheer and health.
The little roads to happiness are free to everyone;
They lead one to the wind's caress, to kiss of friendly sun.
These little roads are shining white, for all the world to see;
Their sighn-boards, pointing left and right, are love and sympathy.
The little roads of happiness have this most charming way;
No matter how they may digress throughout the busy day;
No matter where they twist and wind through fields of rich delight,
They're always of the self same mind to lead us home at night.

A Gift for U

We are still making zentangles for the Holidays here. Be glad when this week is over with sorta getting tired of the holiday themes I am ready to move on to something else. This package came out pretty good I think I'll draw another one.

I was not really happy with this drawing but it sure did trade fast!...
Guess I'm not sure how I like using multiple colors in a Zentangle I really prefer Black and White plus one color nor more than 2 different colors.

TRUE TO THE BEST

Long years of pleasant friendship may be broken
By one hour's work and thoughtless word or deed.
Yet why forget the thousand good words spoken,
The kindly help which met a passing need?
We do not spurn the sunlight when 'tis hidden;
We look for good when fiercest storms descend.
Then why lose faith, when underserved, unbidden,
We meet disloyal usage from a friend?

Living is a form of not being sure,

knows. We guess. We may be wrong,

OPEN YOUR EYES

Open your eyes that you may see
The beauty that around you lies,
The misty loveliness of the dawn,
The glowing colors of the skies;
The child's bright eager eyes of blue,
The gnarled and wrinkled face of age,
The bird with crimson on his wing
Whose spirit never knew a cage;
The roadside's blooming goldenrod
So brave through summer's wind and heat,
The brook that rushes to the sea
With courage that naught may defeat.
Open your eyes that you may see
The wonder that around you lies;
It will enrich your every day
And make you glad and kind and wise.

THE HUMAN TOUCH

Tis the human touch in this world that counts,
The touch of your hand and mine,
Which means far more to the fainting heart
Than shelter and rbead and wine;
For shelter is gone when the night is o'er,
And bread lasts only a day,
But the touch of the hand and the sound of the voice
Sing on in the soul alway.

THE RAINBOW

My heart leaps up when I behold
A rainbow in the sky:
So was it when my life began;
So is it now I am a Man;
So be it when I shall grow old,
Or let me die!
The Child is Father of the Man;
And I could wish my days to be
Bound each to each by natural piety.
William Wordsworth
I bet you thought this was going to be a beautiful poem about rainbows, this poor fella must have been very down when he wrote this poem.

YOU NEVER CAN TELL

You never can tell when you send a word
Like an arrow shot from a bow
By an archer blind, be it cruel or kind,
Just where it may chance to go.
It may pierce the breast of your dearest friend,
Tipped with its poison or balm,
To a stranger's heart in life's great mart
It may carry its pain or its calm.
You never can tell when you do an act
Just what the results will be,
But with every deed you are sowing a seed.
Though the harvest you may not see.
Each kindly act is an acorn dropped
In God's productive soil;
You may not know, but the tree shall grow
With shelter for those who toil.
You never can tell what your thoughts will do
In bringing you hate or love,
For thoughts are things, and their airy wings
Are swifter than carrier doves.
They follow the law of the universer-
Each thing must create its kind,
And they speed o'er the track to bring you back
Whatever went out from your mind.

BLING CHUNKIE PAGES

My friend ArtstandingStranger a while back hosted a BLING Chunkie Page. I wanted to participate but at that time, well, my health was not the best I did not feel I should obligate myself. To my amazement one day visiting her admiring everyone chunkie pages she gave me one that she had made. Oh it's beautiful! So since I'm one of these people that says I'm not making chunkie pages I decided to make her one hoping it will come out okay. I'm not a Bling person more of a tom boy and shiny things don't always grab my attention.
Ranie BLING for Diane

I base my BLING on a Couple of Lovers I use embossing powders, pearl ex, glitter, bling, beads, lace, clipart, metallic watercolor paints, threads and yarns. I had so much fun making this that I made myself one too. Now I have a total of 3 different chunkie pages for myself. This is so addicting.
Ranie Bling Chunkie Page

Well, they are almost just alike a little different not much. I like to make an extra one for me. To be able to show off my work in person. Always looks so much better in person than a picture. I tend to give most of my stuff away. Now I beginning to have a nice display of my art.

Fabric Chunkie Pages

Well I have said over and over again. I have NO intention to start making chunkie pages. Guess what I'm making chunkie pages. These are 4 x 4 pages made of fabric or paper. We take these pages turning them into a book. Well here are my fabric pages. Our Host over at ATCsforALL wanted them chunkie. I had come up with an idea then I suddenly decided I better re-checked and see if there was a theme we were to go by. ..giggle..oh my there was boy did it turn my idea up side down. The theme was In the Garden, my mind started ticking in the garden then I had a great idea ........
In the Garden are my Funky Flowers
I started out with 2 pieces of fabric with batting. Then I sewed a design hoping to make it stiffer, I wasn't too happy with it then I took some silk flowers and hand sculpted a bunch of  nylon faces. Then I attached a few on each page I made 8 pages. Once done with that I decided those funky flowers needed something more so I went into my stash found some fuzzy yarn putting that around their faces now that dress it up a bit. Still something else was
needed oh my goodness they were bald needed to fix that! I got some glue and glitter out gave them a funky looking cap still looked a bit plain, decided to add beads and buttons and so much more. My first chunky page and it had to be fabric. Lots of hand sewing a lot of work. I kept 3 giving one to a friend of mine here at home, two for myself, that means I sent 5 to UK. Now I am patiently waiting to received four pages back from four different artist. Once I get them back I get to turn them into a book. Now that is going to be interesting!

SATURDAY NIGHT

This is a cute little poem dated 1852 about a young child taught that she could not play on Sunday!

Now Dolly, my dear,
I pray you come here;
And work is all done;
I'll put you to bed, for to-morrow is Sunday,
And I'll not see you again until Monday.

you don't want to go?
But you ought to know
That it is by right;
So, Dolly, good-night:

You must lie without noise or crying till Monday,
For you know we ought not to play on Sunday.

GOD BE WITH YOU

May His Counsels Sweet uphold you,
And His Loving Arms enforld you,
As you journey on your way.
May His Sheltering Whings protect you,
And His Light Divine direct you,
Turning Darkness into day.
May His Potent Peace surround you,
And His Presence linger with you,
As your inner, golden ray.

Zentangle

Another Zentangle I have been seeing different artist drawing an object turning it into a zen. It is so neat. I went one step further I drew an object in this case a teddy bear which I zen then zen the background. I really like how they came out.
